The Asteroid No.4’s sound has been called a “hypnotic hybrid of several different genres filtered through the kaleidoscope of all things psychedelic.” Whether it be “shoegaze”, 12-string driven jangly folkrock, “Kosmiche Musik” or even the occasional dabbling in “Cosmic” countryrock, the band have never shied away from being faithful to the sounds passed on by their influences.

*** Kallai *** (PDX)

Portland-based four-piece Kallai emerged in 2024 with a distinct alt/shoegaze sound, debuting with the single Always/Never in March, followed by the post-punk-infused Palisades, which earned a spot on KEXP’s Audioasis Best of 2024 playlist. Their self-titled EP arrived in June, less than a year after the band’s formation by members of Trance to the Sun, Lost Echoes, and Luscious Apparatus.
